Perhaps you are a hardcore e-commerce player or perhaps you are just playing with the idea. Either way e-commerce logistics is very different compared to the ‘regular’ B2B logistics. More customers, more orders, less orderlines per order and lower quantities per orderline.

The start of e-commerce can often be handled from within the current processes or with slight changes, but once it starts taking off more often than not a new logistics concept is required. All processes, starting from inbound, replenishment through obviously picking and packing, but also departments like shipping and returns will need to be redesigned in order to facilitate these new orders.
